Ocean
Hopper 3 tube TRF c/w all 6 coils. Has the Usual 50C5 audio, 35W4
rectifier and 12AT6 a.preamp &
detector lineup.
Over the years the Ocean Hopper schematic varied. Some show only 2
tubes, a pentode 12SJ7GT and a 70L7GT for audio and power rectifier. |
GR-81
This Heathkit Economy Short Wave Listener's Radio is a three
tube four band regenerative set covering 140kHz to 18 mHz. Tubes are
35W4 as rectifer, 50C5 for audio output and a 12AV7 dual triode as the
regenerative RF detector and a first stage of audio incorporating an
isolation transformer for safety. |
Explor-Air KT-135. Lineup is again the 50C5, 35W4 and 12AT7 tubes
with 4 inch
speaker. Covers bands: .550 to 1.6 mhz, 1.7 to 5.0 mhz, 5.0 to 16.0 mhz,
15.0 to 32.0 mhz
Two different knob verisons avail. |
Allied- Space Spanner
Regen 3 tube mains TRF, tube lineup
50D5, 35W4 and 12AT7. Covers broadcast and the shortwave band from 6-18 Mhz. All of the radio receiving and detecting and a stage of audio
amplification are done by a third tube, the 12AT7, a real tribute to the
simple and efficient design of a regenerative receiver. A later version

Together with the likes of the Star Roamer and the Span Master these are
the most classic and collectable kitset regens available today and are
sure to have kicked off the careers of many a boy builder..
They are extremely simple, low power, pure fun & frustration to operate, immune to imaging
and signal overloading and able to resolve SSB without a product
detector or BFO. They are
very sensitive if operated just on the verge of the detector breaking
into unwanted oscillation. Be sure too try one out sometime. |
